Ortopì Country House is the first holiday home in the Marche region built using Hempcrete bricks, a sustainable construction material made from hemp. This was our first challenge—successfully completed ten years ago.

Our idea of hospitality, the welcoming atmosphere, and the use of natural materials are the core principles that shaped the design and philosophy of this architectural project. Contemporary elements are harmoniously blended with the traditional and cultural features of local architecture, allowing the building to integrate and take root in the landscape where it stands.

Through the demolition and reconstruction of a new architectural structure, the volume has been designed to be simple and balanced. At the same time, the rotation of one portion of the building—angled toward the Sanctuary of the Holy House—creates a sense of fluidity and continuity.

Careful attention was paid to the selection of natural materials, the orientation of the building, and the study of natural ventilation. The walls, made of lime and hemp wood, give the house a strong connection to the surrounding territory. It is designed to interact with nature and to have a minimal environmental impact.
